Does Loqua really translate every string with AI?
Yes. Every translatable string in your store runs through Claude with your glossary and brand voice attached. There is no generic-engine fallback and no AI token meter that runs out, so the quality is the same across your whole catalogue, not just the first few hundred words.
Where is my store content processed?
Source text is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to be translated, and the results are stored in Loqua’s per-shop database so they can be published to Shopify and reused from translation memory. Your content is not used to train any model. The full data-handling detail, including sub-processors, lives on our security page.
What content can Loqua translate?
Products, collections, pages, blog articles, navigation menus, theme strings, translatable metafields, and structured metaobjects, all read and written through Shopify’s official Translations API. No theme edits and no scripts injected into your storefront.
What about the checkout?
Shopify controls checkout localisation. Loqua publishes translations for the content Shopify exposes through its Translations API; checkout strings outside that surface are governed by Shopify itself. We are honest about that boundary rather than promising more than the platform allows.
What happens when I uninstall?
Loqua removes every translation it registered on your store. No leftover code, no orphaned hreflang tags, no cleanup for your developer. Clean uninstall is a day-one requirement for us, not a polish item.
How does billing work?
Through Shopify. Your 14-day free trial starts when you install, then your plan is billed monthly on your normal Shopify invoice in your store currency. Cancel anytime from your Shopify admin.
What counts as one translation?
One unique string in one locale. The same string, unchanged, is served from translation memory at no further cost. Editing source content re-translates only the part that changed. See the pricing page for how this maps to each plan.
Can I edit translations myself?
Yes. Anything the model is unsure about, or anything that conflicts with your glossary, lands in a review queue for a human to approve or edit. Approved edits feed back into translation memory, so the system keeps learning how your brand sounds.
Does Loqua support per-market differences?
Yes, through Shopify Markets. You can say that a term translates one way in base French and another in French-Canadian, for example. Where you do not set an override, the market inherits the base translation cleanly.
Which languages can Loqua translate into?
Any locale you run through Shopify’s international setup. Claude handles the major European and global commerce languages with brand context; for less common locales we will tell you honestly what to expect before you rely on it.
